Jodhpur

Jodhpur is commonly referred to as ‘Sun City’ because of the year long sunny weather. It is the second largest city of Rajasthan and was founded by the Chief of Rathore clan ‘Rao Jodha’ in 1459. The city was earlier known as Marwar. It has numerous beautiful places and attractions like heritage properties, forts, temples, museums and palaces. The city is known for its culture and hospitality, Rajasthani delicacies, Handicraft art and its folk music. People are warm, friendly and helpful. It is a hot tourist destination for all.

Jodhpur is well connected by regular trains to all major cities in India including Delhi.

Jodhpur airport is5 km from the city cente, is well-connected to Delhi by daily flights. You can hire a taxi or take other modes of local transport to go to the city.

Jodhpur is a well connected city, private taxi can be hired or one can opt to use the state owned or private luxury buses that ply regularly between Delhi and Jodhpur.

A white marble memorial built by Maharaja Sardar Singh in memory of his father Maharaja Jaswant Singh in the year 1899. The monument is approximately 4 km’s from the city and is a peaceful spot to visit.

It is one of the largest forts in India. It has huge courtyards, galleries and temples. The architecture is a proof of the hard work and skill of Jodhpur sculptors. It was founded by Rao Jodha in 1459 and is only about 5 km’s from the city.

Founded by Maharaja Umaid Singh in 1929 it is one of the last palaces built in India. Situated at the hill top of Chittar Hill. It was the largest private residences in the world when it was built. The palace has been divided in 3 parts one for the royal residence, the second part is converted into a museum which has a collection of antiques, artifacts, weapons, stuffed animals, antique clocks and a banner and the third part is converted into a five star property.

The temple is supported by 84 pillars depicting various postures of yoga. Constructed in 1812 the temple has many ancient shrines and houses that showcase the intricate work of stone

In the center of the lake is the Siddnath Shiv temple. The lake is named after Maharaja Takhat Singh, the king of Jodhpur. It has Takhat Sagar Hills in the background and is approximately 10 Kms from Jodhpur
